Literature Text

Young one, tease your ears,
If your half-warmed fish,
Is to know your blows.
Go and shake a tower,
Or go help me sod,
I’ll eat a soul of ballad!
Go! Wave the sails!
Or you’ll have very mad banners!
And always say thanks to our queer old Dean.
At dinner parties, I’m called a shining wit.
Upon finding a list of spoonerisms on the Internet, I quickly assembled the above poem. It doesn't rhyme - which is not a requirement for poetry technically, but it is in my mind - but it's packed with clever wordplay which, I think, is not only funny but very clever.

The last line was originally to talk of being a "full duck" but I preferred "shining wit" as an ending.

I hope this is the right category...
